Artist's Comments

This is the third piece in my series of self-portraits portraying the strange things that people assume about me. Shot in large-format, this image investigates the odd assumption some old coworkers of mine had that I am religious about recycling, simply because I continued to do so day after day. (gasp!) I find the notion rather humorous.
slightly technical stuff….
The gold tone of this picture is due to several factors: a) I am painted metallic gold, b) the background is dusted gold also, and c) I purposefully shot using tungsten lights without tungsten film. (took both versions, actually, and chose this one.)
The effect on the original print (which is 24x30”) is rather impressive, especially with the wax tears and green contacts. The colour is meant to seem surreal, and I attempted to achieve an androgynously-disturbing-angel look, true to early Christian iconic art.
Alas, I feel that it has lost some of it’s original effect onscreen- still, I hope you enjoy it. ^_~

Remember guys— Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Hail Mary!, Rinse, Repeat. :)

P.S. FULL VIEW PLEASE! It makes SUCH a difference! It looks awful all tiny >_< Thanks to anyone who bothers!!

Hail Morriganlafey, Our Blessed Lady of Large Format.

Fantastic shot, and yes, a full view is a requirement (subtle hint to those in doubt)

Max Power, he's the man whose name you'd love to touch! But you mustn't touch! His name sounds good in your ear, but when you say it, you mustn't fear! 'Cause his name can be said by anyone!

I really love this picture, Specifically the tones achieved on the skin and hair, with the eyes standing out so contrastingly with the rest of the picture. It turned out rather well indeed. And the subject matter is rather humorious. Though to achieve that true old angelic look, one would have to be rolling their eyes as if saying 'feh, humans' or something

Definetly a stunning image. I think the concept you've explored here is fantastic. I love the play on words you've used here - the religeousness of recyling each day, converted to an image that speaks about christianity. The tears, imho, look fantastic. They way they're melting down your cheeks turn you into a sort of candle yourself, almost. I am really liking the goldish tone too, and think it fits well in with your theme of early christian artworks. I have to say, too, that the background of cans looks amazing.
